Obituary of Walter Serad
Walter Serad, 71 passed away suddenly on Thursday evening, June 24, 2010 at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Walter was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Mary (Pilitowski) and Samuel Serad. He was a resident of Franklin Township for 43 years. He was a graduate of Glassboro High School, class of 1957 and a graduate of Trenton State College. Before retiring, he was a teacher and coach at Delsea Regional High School for 36 years. He was most noted for his devotion to the students in his charge and South Jersey Baseball. He had received numerous awards for his ability as a New Jersey High School baseball coach. He was a member of the New Jersey Baseball Coaches Association, the South Jersey Baseball Coaches Association, the Hot Stovers Baseball Club, and was instrumental in the Tri-Cape Carpenter Cup League. He was an active member of the St. Rose of Lima Church council in Newfield.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marion (Chiari), son and his wife Walter and Penny Serad of North Carolina; daughter and her husband Dr. Sonia Serad-Wright and Eric of Missouri; and youngest son Samuel of North Carolina; brother and his wife William and Sandy Serad of Vineland; sister Evelyn Nichols of Williamstown. His treasured survivors are his grandchildren, Dylan, Dalton, Brandon, Brandy, and great-granddaughter Aubrey. His youngest brother Louis predeceased him.
A funeral home visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Rone Funeral Service. On Thursday visitation will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church, Newfield from 9:00 am to 10:00 am followed by a mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Tuckahoe Road, Franklinville.
