Jon was a bluesman , a poet, a reciter of Chaucer to his cows and the world at large, a romantic of the highest order and a rare burning light without one mean bone in his rather large body. He wrote poemsongs about plumbers in drag, children on skag and the speechless beauty of Mesopotamia. We are better humans for meeting him. May the Lord bless and caress him in his journey onward. Play on, Brother - love always, Steve

John was an exceptionally loving and sweet man, hard working and a super friend to my entire family. Many times we had fresh produce from "John the Farmer" and though I wasn't often in South Jersey after I left in 1973, he remains a lasting memory, and I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. He was so brave to donate his kidney to his sister, and I'm sorry to hear that the remaining kidney gave him grief. My condolences to Carlota and Dennis, and the extended family. Loving hugs from Lorna (Steve's sister).

Carlota and Dennis- I am so sorry. I loved him too. He was a good friend. Memories: Wednesday evening dinners around the big Santaniello table, Summer parties from the flatbed truck, poetry readings by John at the Stockton A Wing theater, picking peas, many phone conversations, and listening to the poetry he wrote. I am proud to have been his friend.

Carlota and Dennis, My sincerest condolences for your loss. John was a wonderful man with the kindest of hearts; he will be greatly missed. I will remember fondly all of my trips to pick peas at John's farm, and the countless jokes, riddles, and poetry shared that brightened the day. You are both in my thoughts and prayers. ~Adrienne
