Obituary of Alice Moses

Alice Moses (nee Matanin), age 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 7, 2008 at South Jersey Healthcare Hospice Care Unit, Bridgeton, NJ. She was surrounded by her family who will miss her deeply. Alice was born in Bayonne, New Jersey September 6, 1916. One of thirteen children, Alice went to work in the Samuel Hurds Factory following sixth grade, but remained true to her studies teaching herself how successfully read and write English. She married her beloved husband George (deceased) and together they began building a family and a home in Rochelle Park, NJ never forgetting to take care of their extended family and friends. Alice spent many years as mother, homemaker and the in-house office manager for Belmont Fuel, taking emergency calls for oil and heating service anytime of the day or night, assuring families they would stay warm regardless of their ability to pay for services. George and Alice shared a love for homing pigeons, and enjoyed spending time with family.fellow parishioners, neighbors, and friends. They retired to Vineland, NJ in 1988 wanting to be close to their grandchildren who they loved so much. Of all the compliments Alice received, none was more special to her than the outpouring of love and thanks from her family and friends- whether it was for the chocolate chip cookies she baked to brighten your day, the baby blanket she crocheted for you with when welcoming your new arrival, the macaroni and cheese with pot roast she made fo fill your tummy, or the smiles and stories she shared to warm your heart. In her final days, Alice welcomed your visits and calls beyond her ability to tell her family and friends. She did share with us how much she loved and cared for each of us, asking her family to continue to share her love for those close to her heart, and to make sure we do right by all. Alice was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Vineland, New Jersey and a religious woman whose deep faith in God runs true to this day, She prayed every morning and night to thank God for all of "Grandma's Blessing", and for the long, healthy, happy, and prosperous life she lived. She was a proud woman to the end as she looked forward to her new journey. Her heart and soul will always be with her family. Alice is survived by: daughter and her husband, Judith (Moses) and Daniel G. Vivarelli Sr. of Vineland; daughter and her husband, Marianne (Moses) and John Mohrhardt of Garfield; granddaughter and her husband Cara (Vivarelli) and Todd O'Neill of Lansdale, PA; grandson and his wife and great granddaughter, Daniel G. and Mary Francis (Adams) Vivarelli Jr. of Arlington, VA and their daughter Isabelle; sisters: Lydia Handzo of Elmwood Park, NJ; Ruth Geici of Lodi, NJ; brothers: Andrew Kmetz of Sayre, PA; Robert Kmetz of Nutley, NJ and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
