Obituary of Erna Meyer

ERNA MEYER FORMER VINELAND RESIDENT, HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR, AND HOSPITAL VOLUNTEER Erna Meyer, 97, formerly of Vineland, died February 23,2012, in Media, PA. For the past twelve years, she had resided at the Martins Run Life Care Community in Media, PA. Born in Rhede, Germany, she immigrated to the United States after WWII after residing in London, England. Along with her late husband Herman, she operated a chicken farm and egg route business purveying eggs, chickens, and fresh produce and fruits to residents in the Cherry Hill area. A volunteer at Newcomb Hospital gift shop for twenty years, she was also an active member of both Hadassah and Hebrew Women's Benevolent Society. She enjoyed scrap-booking, knitting, crocheting, and gardening. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Herman Meyer, and her sister Ruth Albu she is survived by her beloved nieces Barbara Albu Lehman, Inge Berg Katzenstein, Jill Berg Pauley, Hannah Baum Mandelbaum and Helga Meyer Haber, as well as many grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grand nieces, and great-grand nephews . A funeral service will be held February 26,2012 at 11:30 at the Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E. Chestnut Ave., Vineland. Internment will follow at the Alliance Cemetery in Norma. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be sent to The Erna Meyer Torah Fund, c/o Rabbi Meryl Crean, Martin's Run, 11 Halcyon Ave., Media PA 19063.
