Obituary of Owen Metcalf

Owen Metcalf, 70, of Vineland passed away Monday Feb 18 at the Millville Center in Millville, NJ. Born in Colorado, Owen moved to Vineland over 30 years ago. Owen attended the University of Colorado receiving an undergraduate & master's degree in music education. He then received a Doctorate of Music from Indiana University. Owen was a professor at Rowan University (Glassboro State College) for 25 years. He was also an adjunct faculty member at West Chester University for 20 years. Owen was a freelance musician in the South Jersey Philadelphia area. He was a member of the Peter Nero Philly Pops Orchestra for 25 years. He conducted in Carnegie Hall and played with the Philadelphia orchestra. Owen also played with some of the most famous musicians in the world, including Jean-Pierre Rampal, Elton John, Marvin Hamlisch, and Mel Torme.
