Obituary of David Scarpa Sr

David Gabriel Scarpa Sr., a retired Vineland police officer, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2024 at the age of 75. Dave lived his life to the absolute fullest. He enjoyed going to concerts, playing pool, chess, and other fun extracurricular activities - especially with his lifelong friend, Tony. Dave was a character who was authentically himself in every circumstance and setting. What Dave loved more than anything was his circle of loved ones, especially the kids. Being a big kid himself, Dave knew how to love the little ones fiercely. Dave fought Leukemia with the same intensity that he lived his life. While it wasn't an easy road, he in no way let his diagnosis slow him down. The Cavagnaro holidays and family will never be quite the same without our beloved, crazy Dave. David is survived by his wife Helen (Velazquez), his granddaughter Ashley (Zielinski) Rudy (Chris), his Brother Robert Scarpa (Donna), his sisters Kathy Wargo (David) and Theresa Satterly (Dale) and his adopted sons/caregivers Mark Cavagnaro (Trisha) and Christian Gropper. David was predeceased by his beloved mother Jeanne Nightlinger Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery will be private.
