Obituary of James "Moppy" Marandino

James C. "Jim" "Moppy" Marandino, 84, resident of Naples FL (and formerly of Vineland) passed away this Tuesday, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was the son of Marietta Guida and Carmen Marandino and is survived by his devoted, loving wife Diane Tamagni; son James V. Marandino (Terry); daughter Pamela Levari (Robert); stepchildren Roe and Henry Tamagni (Susie); siblings Daniel Marandino, Charles Marandino, Rosemary Tell, and Jack Marandino; grandchildren: Danielle Perrotta (Rich), James V. Marandino III, Crystal Bauman (Kevin) and Landon Holt; great grandson Chase Perrotta, and former spouse, Angela Marandino. He was predeceased by his daughter and son-in-law Debra and Manny Velazquez; his sister Marion Lowers; many nieces and nephews. Known for his thick head of hair, "Moppy" as he was affectionately called by close friends and relatives, lived a life full of many notable accomplishments. Jim worked in several different capacities before spreading his entrepreneurial wings. As a young man, he and his father had a profitable business making cheese in Landisville. He later served as an operator with the Vineland Road Department and as a Road Inspector for The State of NJ. In his twenties, Jim began his career in the concrete business, alongside his father and three brothers. At the age of 41, he started Marandino Concrete Co. with his son, Jimmy and was also the owner/manager of Dino's Bar & Discotech (now the Maplewood III). After being in business for 25 years, he retired and relocated to FL. He enjoyed each passing day traveling, dancing, golfing, and going out to eat with his wife Diane and sidekick, his dog Marco. Jim was passionate about collecting and restoring the classic cars he enjoyed in his youth. He achieved six "Hole in Ones" and made life-long friendships with fellow members of The Island Country Club. Most recently, Jim could be found operating his Backhoe and staying busy; clearing trees and caring for his NJ property. His favorite pastime was hanging with his boys: Augie, Larry, and Charlie, playing Pinochle at The Landisville Social Club. Jim will be remembered fondly as a family man, devoted friend, lover of all things chocolate, and his sense of humor, but above all - for his kind and generous heart. Let's celebrate his life!
