I’m so heartbroken to hear about Rita. She was one of my all-time favorites at the Veterans Home! We had so much fun when I played there each week. She loved Old Rugged Cross, God Bless America and You Are My Sunshine. Her favorite though was when I played “Oh, Johnny, Oh” because it reminded her of her husband. She would sing and dance in her seat and wrap her arms around herself like she was hugging and singing to him. Every week at some point in the program I would say, “I think we need a ‘toe-tapper.’ You ready, Rita?” and she would say yes, and I’d play something very upbeat. She danced, motioned with her arms whatever the words were about, and she also played a mean air guitar. She was so much fun-and so kind and loving. She always asked about my husband after she met him once years ago. I used to tease her and tell her that I thought she had a thing for his English accent. She will be sorely missed but I will always remember her beautiful spirit when I play her favorites to others. My deepest condolences to all her family. She was one of a kind.

Aunt Rita was an amazing woman who devoted herself to her family and to serving/helping others. She was also so talented, whether it was quilting or calligraphy or ceramics. The quilts she made for us are treasured to this day for their beauty and for the love that she sewed into them. She had the best laugh that would warm your heart! We will cherish all of the memories of family times together, sharing stories, hearing her laugh. And we will carry her in our hearts always. Rest in eternal peace and know that you were so loved! Our love and sympathy to Anne, Bernie, Emily, Brian, Rose and John Bianchi and family. With broken hearts, Andrea & Christian Procaccino
