Roberta,
My deepest condolences to you, Freddy, John and the family! I was shocked to hear the news. Fred was a greasy guy, someone I really looked up to and taught me more than can be imagined. I really enjoyed working for him and working with you. I have so many great memories of that time that I share with my family. In the mix of this I am remodeling my master bathroom and as I was sketching things out my wife asked where did you find that pencil. It’s one of the few red Fred Schiavone pencils I have left. While it’s just a pencil it brings back the fond memories of I have of Fred and you!
You are all in my thoughts and prayers through tough time!
God bless you all!
Love, Tim Issertell

Dear Roberta,
Normally, older uncles are no longer around to send condolences to their widowed nieces. But these are not normal times. As of December 18, covid-19 had snuffed out 312,554 lives across the country. And Fred's was one of them. This is probably the most soul-searing period of your life. My deep-felt sympathy goes to you.
From modest beginnings on Dutch Mill Road in Malaga, Fred transformed himself into a master carpenter, a successful building contractor, and a respected community leader. You (and your father early on) played a key role in this remarkable transformation ... .
In the days and months ahead, you will no doubt go through a "dark period." The century-old words of H.S. Holland, a clergyman at St. Paul's Cathedral, London, may bring you some comfort. Were Fred still with us, this is what he might be saying to you:
"Death is nothing at all. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak of me in the easy way you always used to. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little things that brought us joy. Play. Smile. Think of me. Pray for me. Life means all that it ever meant. All is well."
Please convey my condolences to Fred Jr., John, and their families.

Roberta I'm sorry about ur dear Fred. Freddy + Johnny my deepest heartfelt condolences about ur Dad. He was a commendable man who loved his family & work. Rest w the angels Fred
I loved Fred for numerous reasons.
He gave me my intro to construction up in that attic office many moons ago. He was an admirable father figure & a man of many 'second chances' to me. He was a wise man, when he spoke I listened.
I will remember his kindness, our talks along w our hardy laughs.... & the food! Ahhh the food
I believe we can all take a page frm the book of Fred M Schiavone. RIP

Roberta, Freddy and John,
I am so so sorry. I just can't believe it. Fred and I started our careers at the same time. He not only worked doing the carpentry work on our Rt 40 building in '74 but he taught me how to use a router and make formica counter tops. Our businesses grew and he built our building in Freehold in '78 and he taught me how to put in a culvert. Then in '88 he did a major remodel job on my home in Ocean City. Over the years we did not see each other very often but when we did he would always tell me about his sons and their endeavors, skiing, excavating, building, becoming master craftsmen....he was so so proud of both of you. In life you have some regrets and for me this is one of them. I regret not keeping in touch. You always think you'll be able to get in touch tomorrow but it just doesn't work that way. I will miss seeing his smile.
Please accept my condolences.
Joe Pustizzi.
