Obituary of Leophold L. Ferus Jr.

Leophold L. Ferus Jr., 80, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, January 17, 2009 at the Veteran's Memorial Home in Vineland. Leo was born in millville and attended Millville Public Schools. He has been a resident of Vineland since 1953. Leo served in the Army for 2 years during the Korean War. Upon his return, he was employed as a welder at the New York Shipyard and then Dupont for many years. He then spent 22 years employed by the Vineland Public School District as a school bus driver. He also worked as a Special Officer in the Franklin Township Police Department. Leo was very active in the community, donating his time as a Boy Scout Master, member of the Elks Lodge #580, serving as the Elk's Exalted Ruler for two terms, especially supporting "Our Special Children Fund" and for personal enjoyment he made guest appearances as Santa Claus during Christmas at many community organizations for more than 25 years. Leo is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lucy M. (Cifaloglio) Ferus, his daughter Lucille Ferus of Oakland, CA and his son Leo L. Ferus III of Vineland.
