I volunteer at the Soldiers' Home in the Arts and Crafts Room -- Leo enjoyed painting ceramics. Many times he got a little extra time. He told me many stories of his childhood in Millville and stories of his wife and children. My funniest thing was when he help us take the donations cart around, he wanted to give every man shaving cream so that they could shave off their beards. With a beard like his, he wasn't very convencing. He was very dear and special to me!! I will miss him deeply!!

Lucy....I did not have your address to send a card. It has been so many years, you may not even remember me. Leo and I lived across the street from each other as kids. I worked with you at the "Baltimore Markets.) My concolences to you and your family.

Sylvan and I were just talking about and remembering happy moments with Leo & Lucy, and Leo III when we went out for dinner on Friday nite; we used to stop in frequently at the Garwood House Friday evenings and enjoyed many a conversation with all three of these delightful people; how sad we were to find out Monday about Leo's passing; we miss the warm hugs and big smiles from Papa Leo; I remember how long his whiskers would get when he was preparing for his Christmas/Santa adventures, and how they would tickle my nose; it is a sad time for everyone who has been touched by his kind heart and dedication; we want the Ferus family to know we are sending our prayers and heartfelt sympathy

Although I have only met Leo once at a birthday party, I know from knowing his daughter Lucille, that he was happiest when he could help with projects and fix things for her. My father was of similar nature. That's how they showed their love, through their hands and heart. I know he will be well missed.
