Obituary of Paul Joseph Doe

Paul Joseph Doe passed away peacefully in his home on February 13, 2016. He was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1943 to parents Leo A. Doe and Lydia Mildred (Schaefer). He graduated from Nativity High School of our Lord in Detroit and enlisted into the Navy from 1962 to 1967, serving on the USS Boxer. Then he continued onto Wayne State University and majored in journalism. Afterwards he worked for the Detroit News, as copy boy then as night Editor. In 1984 he moved to Vineland to take a position with the Daily Journal . Soon after he published a weekly paper, the Cumberland News, until retiring in 2003. After retirement, he wrote a monthly column for the Grapevine newspaper. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, swimming, telling stories from his interesting life, playing cards, dining with friends, visiting Sea Isle City, walking(a prior runner),was an avid reader, but most of all he enjoyed his family, especially playing with his 7 grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years,Paula(Perugini); son Matthew Doe(Sandi);daughter, Carey Bresler (Kevin); stepsons,Daniel DiGiovacchino(Misty), and Matthew DiGiovacchino; grandchildren, Virginia Bresler,Anabelle Bresler,Logan Doe, Shannon Doe, Daniel, Dominic,and Gabriella DiGiovacchino; brother, Peter Doe (Anna);sister, Sharon Jasina ;sister in laws, Anna Doe, Annette Day, Lynda Gilbert, Maryann Perugini; brother in laws, Larry Gilbert and Eric Demitroff; many nieces,nephews,cousins; 6 great nephews;and many loving friends. Paul was a proud Navy veteran, and an active member of St. Padre Pio parish. A funeral Mass will be held at 12pm,Thursday, Feb. 18, at our Lady of Pompeii Church, St Padre Pio parish, Dante Ave, Vineland. Visitation will be held from 10am - 12pm. at the church.
