Obituary of Bart Anthony Speziali
Bart Speziali Sr.
Bank Executive and Community Leader - East Vineland
Widely respected and accomplished businessman, Bart Speziali Sr., died Friday, April 2, 2010, in the Presbyterian Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, surrounded by loved ones following his courageous year long battle against heart disease. Bart was born March 8, 1950 in Vineland, NJ to the late Anthony and Viola Speziali. He was a 1968 graduate of Vineland High School. Bart earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, NJ in 1972 and is a graduate of the Central Atlantic School of Commercial Lending, a division of Bucknell University. He married Sharon Watson in 1973. Bart was a very effective business leader who had excelled in lending and senior banking management for more than 35 years. He began his banking career with Citizens United Bank, N.A., in Vineland, in the Commercial Loan Department. He later served as Vice President of the Mortgage Division and Vice President of the Installment Loan Department for Security Savings & Loan Association, also in Vineland. Additionally, he served as Executive Vice President for Multi-Service Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Security Savings & Loan Association. In 1992 he joined the Sun National Bank as a Senior Lending Officer and Senior Vice President. At present Bart was Sun National Bank's Executive Vice President and Market Manager of Wholesale banking. He also oversaw Construction Lending for the bank's entire footprint. Bart 's record of success extended well beyond the banking industry to his community, family and friends. His meaningful work, continuous support, significant contributions and fundraising for individuals and organizations were recognized in 2009. He was honored with the Thomas J. Kuhar Founders Award. Previously, Bart served as President of the Cumberland Cape Atlantic YMCA, President of the Exchange Club of Vineland and member of the Vineland Neighborhood Empowerment Council on Housing. He currently was a Trustee for the Southern New Jersey Development Council (SNJDC) and a member of its Economic Development Committee. He also served as Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors of United Way of Atlantic County, and was a member of the Center City Vineland Redevelopment Plan Advisory Committee. Additionally, Bart was a Trustee of the Quinton Sportsmen's Club and a member of the National Sporting Clays Association. He is a member of St. Mary's Church. Bart devoted even greater time and energy to his family. Nothing made him happier than spending quality time with his immediate and extended families. He especially enjoyed traveling, spending time in Sea Isle City and sharing his passion for clay shooting. He was equally known for his remarkable fidelity to friends. Never forgetting relationships; he remained a true friend. Bart was an avid clay shooter and participated in many competitions, especially with friends on Friday nights at Quinton Sportsmen's Club. He truly enjoyed spending time with life long friends and acquaintances.
Bart is survived by wife of 36 years, Sharon (Watson) Speziali, East Vineland, NJ; son, Bart Speziali Jr., of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Carey Speziali; son, Dominic Speziali; sister and her husband, Mary Etta & Bruce Bedwell, East Vineland, NJ; goddaughter, Toni Geist; mother-in-law, Gerri Watson, Vineland, NJ; sister-in-law and her husband Diane and Tom Cox, Vineland, NJ; and brother-in-law and his wife Jerry and Diane Watson, Medford Lakes, NJ. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Viola (Pagliughi) Speziali. He is further survived by many loving relatives and dear friends.
Funeral home visitations will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 5 pm to 8 pm and Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 8:30 am to 10 am at Rone Funeral Service. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 11:00 am from Queen of Angels Parish at the Church of St. Michael, 504 West Avenue, Minotola. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Union Road, Vineland.
