Obituary of Angelo Spadoni

Angelo "Tex" Spadoni, 89, of Vineland, passed away on Wednesday morning, September 30, 2009 at home surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Spadoni was born and raised in Vineland, where he was a life-long resident. He was the 5th of 8 children born to the late Lorenzo and Amelia (Mazzolli) Spadoni. He spent many years working his farm in East Vineland and continued his life-long involvement with Our Lady of Pompeii Church. He loved spending time farming, mowing his lawn, working on the Grotto and visiting with family and friends. Angelo joined the Knights of Columbus in 1959 and in 1974 became a member of Council 6621 at St. Mary's Church, as one of the charter members of the 4th Degree Bishop John Neumann Assembly 1749 and a member of the Color Corp. In May 2009, he was honored by Council 6621 and by the NJ State Senate and House of Representatives, for his 50 years of service in the Knights.' As a member of Council 6621 he was Chairman for the Eyeglasses for the Needy Program and worked on numerous community and council programs. He was a charter member of Panther Road Company, No. 5 (East Vineland) and an active volunteer firefighter with No. 5 from 1948 until his retirement in 1985. Additionally, he spent some years as a board member of the Vineland's Fireman's Relief Association. Angelo was an active member of the St. Joseph's Society at Our Lady of Pompeii Church. He also volunteered in community activities, including Scout Leader in the 50's and 60's. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years,Rita (Raffaelli) Spadoni; sons and daughter-in-laws James and Shary Spadoni, and Larry and Sue Spadoni and daughter Arlene Spadoni; 5 grandchildren, Chris Spadoni and his wife Julia; Jena and her husband Scott Gutzwiller, Tara Spadoni, Aarn Spadoni and his wife Jenna and Tiffany Fatur and her husband Roy; two great-grandchildren, Sophia Rae and Zoe; and his brother John Spadoni and sister Clara Nani; as well as many dear nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral home visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2009 from 6 to 8 PM at Rone Funeral Service and on Saturday, October 3, 2009, from 9:45 to 10:45 am at Our Lady of Pompeii Church.
