Obituary of Arthur Craig Smith

Arthur Craig Smith, 80, passed away from multiple myeloma on Friday, August 29, 2008, at Dunwoody Village, Newtown Square, PA. Born in Vineland to the late Walter Elliott Smith Sr.and Margaret Bell Craig he was an area resident most of his life. He was a graduate of Vineland High School and received a B.A. degree from Rider University and an M.A. from Rowan University. Mr. Smith was a US Navy veteran of World War II serving aboard the USS Nantahala AO-60-in both the Atlantic and Pacific. He was Vice Principal of the Woodbury Heights Elementary School, retiring in 1994. He previously was employed by Mobil Oil Corporation and the Hammonton Board of Education. Mr. Smith was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. He was a member of the National Education Association, the New Jersey Education Association, Cumberland County Retired Educators Association, AARP, and the New Jersey Association of Realtors. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Anna Lynn and Douglas Hardy of Wallingford, PA; his brother and sister-in-law, J.Talbot and Barbara Smith of Advance, NC; his sister-in-law, Virginia Smith of Vineland; three grandsons, Harris Craig, John Chalaron and Charles McAuley of Wallingford, PA and several nieces and nephews. His wife of 49 years, Elaine Guidetti Smith, predeceased him in 2005 . He is also predeceased by his brother W. Elliott Smith Jr. Funeral home visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd, from 6 to 8 pm and Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 am at Rone Funeral Service. A funeral liturgy will be held on Wednesday at 10 am at the Villa Rossello Chapel, 1009 Main Rd. Newfield, NJ Entombment is in Sacred Heart Mausoleum, Vineland.
