Obituary of Sanford B. Smaniotto

Sanford B. Smaniotto, 64 Draftsman and avid photographer Sanford B. Smaniotto, 64, died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, after an extended illness. Sam was born in Hempstead, Long Island, N.Y. to Sanford S. and Carmella (Sipala) Smaniotto. His family moved to Vineland when he was a youngster. A graduate of Vineland High School and Salem Community College, Sam worked for many years as a draftsman at Wheaton's in Millville, and Rudco Products in Vineland. His interests included photography of nature and lighthouses, writing, and WWII history. He was devoted to St. Padre Pio and could often be found at the shrine in Landisville, or visiting the grotto at St. Padre Pio Cemetery. He is survived by daughters, Lisa Galzerano and husband Anthony, Lori Gilleland and husband Robert, Lois Dutra and husband Daniel, a son Christopher Smaniotto, sister Mary Polizzi and husband Philip, 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a beloved maternal aunt, Mary Kiely, and several cousins. Sam is predeceased by his parents, and one nephew, Philip. Family and friends will be received at St. Padre Pio Church in Vineland on Wed., from 10:30 to 11:30 am. A memorial mass will be held at 11:30 am. Interment will follow directly after the mass.
