Obituary of John A. Rossi

John A. Rossi 84 John passed away following a brief illness. He went to Our Lord in the early morning hours of Easter Sunday with his loving son, Philip Rossi by his side. He was born on October 24, 1924 in Vineland, NJ where he lived all his life. He was the son of John D. Rossi and Jenny Rossi Caterina. John and Mary Rossi were married on January 27, 1955 and lived for more than 50 years in the house he designed. Always interested in engineering and the sciences, John graduated from Elon College in North Carolina with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry. Later, he pursued his real love, mechanical engineering and got his degree from Drexel University. A remarkable individual, he was struck by polio as a one-year old child. This never held him back as he accomplished more than many other able-bodied persons. John started his own glass business, Precision Electronic Glass, in 1962. He built it over the years with the help of many people who were like family to him. A devout Catholic, John attended daily Mass at Sacred Heart Church, and was well known by other parishioners. He was very active over the years in many causes, the Boy Scouts, Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart High School, Men of Malvern and many others. Generosity was his hallmark as he supported many charities. John is survived bye his wife, Mary (nee Maselli), sons Domenic Ciancarelli and wife Deborah, Francis Ciancarell and wife Nina, and Philip Rossi and companion Laura Wycoff, as well as grandchildren, Lisa Knapp and husband Harold, Marc Ciancarelii and wife Jane, Michael Ciancarelli and wife Susan, Angela Ciancarelli, Alyssa Tischler, Emily Tischler, Christina Rossi and Amanda Rossi, Daniel Hider, Robert Hider and wife Traci, Joshua Hider and wife Jean, and LeRoy Hider. John had several great grandchildren, Colin Ciancarelli, Matthew Ciancarelli, Alexander Knapp, Sabrina Knapp, Madison Hider, and Maddison Ciancarelli. His brother Joseph "Bud" Rossi and his wife Fay and their children, Toni, Donald, Michelle and Brian also survive him. His parents, and his sister Mary Jane Carlino predeceased John. A church visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in Sacred Heart Church followed the funeral ligurgy at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Church. Entombment will follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum The family has requested that donations be made to Bishop McCarthy Auxiliary, P.O. Box 337, Vineland, NJ 08362, Sacred Heart High School, 15 N. East Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360, or a charity of your choosing.
