Obituary of Katharine Price

Katherine Mary Price (nee Small) 91, of Buena New Jersey, formerly Voorhees Corner New Jersey, passed away peacefully, and with the dignity she always displayed. She is survived by her son, James Francis Price, (Barbara) of Latham, New York, her daughter, Karen Swenson (tom, her partner in crime and a source of joy,) and her cherished grandson David Cochran , currently pursuing his PhD in Kentucky. Nephews Francis (Tracy) and Michael as well as several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband David C Price, who loved her to distraction (1989) and her first born child David C Price Jr (1962, tragically at the age of 19, while serving his country in Japan) and her sister Margie (1994) and her parents Frank and Catherine. She retired in 1981 from her position as co-owner/ operator of Prices Auto Service in Voorhees New Jersey. The business was established in the early 50s or 40s, and she did everything from the bookkeeping to pumping gas and even washing the car windows. She did not however service the cars, that was David's job. They then moved to Buena, to enjoy her favorite things such as going to shows, dining out, playing cards and developing new friendships. Most notably she was one of the "Golden Girls" featuring herself, Ms Doris Guglieomo, and Vi Shoch. She volunteered for many years at Newcomb Medical Center, where she manned the desk with her favorite friend, Mr. Ron Byrd and "Boots." Her pride and joy however was her grandson David. She was so excited to attend his graduations from Drexel, in 2008 and with his masters in 2009. She will be watching again, from a different place, when he receives his PhD in 2013 from The University of Kentucky. She was a Nana by love to her daughters best friends, Tamikia Somers and Maribelle Latimore, who never failed to spend the holidays and her "surprise" birthday parties at age 80 and 85, she was also "Mom" to Georgeanne Stilley, her daughters best friend and mentor. She will be missed by her caregivers at Bishop McCarthy, who lovingly adapted their excellent care as she needed more and more help. The love was flowing as her daughter watched them say their goodbyes with hugs, tears, and smiles. There are too many to name here, but her family wants to say a special thanks to Susan (who advocated for the care that Katherine wanted), Lucy and so many others. She lived and died, just as she wanted, full of grace and dignity, a true "Lady".
