Obituary of Maria Edilia Pinho

Maria E. Pinho, beloved wife of Virginio Pinho of 44 years, passed suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at her home. Born and raised in Escariz, Portugal on 6-10-1945. Maria was the daughter of Maria Carvalho and Oscar Carvalho. Raised in Portugal and married on 6-29-1968, the family migrated to the United States in April of 1973. She had a huge heart and enjoyed caring for numerous families in the area for many years. Maria, known by those most dear to her as "MaMa", loved plants and all kinds of flowers and shared the fruits of her vegetable garden with everyone. She loved spending time with family and especially going antiquing. She was a great cook always making those fabulous Portuguese meals and making sure there was plenty for everyone. She looked forward to Sunday dinners with those most dear to her. Anyone lucky enough to be invited to dinner always went home with a care package. She is survived by her loving husband Virginio O. Pinho of Vineland, daughter Ilda Pinho Tretheway of Vineland, mother Maria Carvalho of Vineland, brother Joseph (Joe) Carvalho of Vineland, her most precious joys whom she said were born in heart, her two grandchildren (princesa) Victoria Maria and her (meu menino) Bruce Tretheway III of Vineland, uncle Martinho Ferreira & family of Brazil, Brother in law and sister in law Alberto &Florinda Pinho of Portugal, Sister and brother in law Graciete &Armenio Nogueira of Portugal. Also by, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom lives she touched. She was predeceased by her father Oscar Carvalho and an infant brother Alvaro Carvalho. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association (South Jersey Chapter) (jdrf.org).
