Obituary of Gloria Rose Pagliughi

Gloria Rose Paglughi, passed away Friday August 14, 2009 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Vineland to the late Edo and Adele (Polmonari) Filippi where she remained a life long resident. Gloria was employed with the family business Filippi Tile and Monuments and co-owned and operated Pagluighi Transportation along with her late husband. She attended Drexel University, and dabbled in Real Estate and Teaching. Gloria was an accomplished women in areas of community affairs and politics, she was the first Women City Chairperson of the democratic party in Vineland, a Super Delagate to President Jimmy Carter in 1980, and served on the Presidents Small Business advisory Board under both Jimmy Carter and Ronald Regan. She served a Business advisory Board for New Jersey under Govenor's Brender Burn, and Tom Kean, the NJ Women in Business Committee under Govenor Christie Todd Whitman and NJ Committee for the Arts as co-chair with Barbara Boggs Sigmund. Gloria served on the Selection Committee, of Military Academics, and was voted New Jersey Women of the year in 1988 and was featured in the New Jersey Magazine " A Women in a Man's Businss". She served as Commettee women for the Lincoln Center of NYC and Carnegie Hall of NYC. Gloria was also the first campaign chair for William Hughes, Frank Lautenberg, and Bill Bradley. She served on local commitees such as the Sacred Heart Parish Parish Council, the fundraising committee of St. Agustines Prep, the committee for Bi Centenial Celeberations, and fund raising board of the Cooper Medical Center in Camden. In the field of Political Science Gloria was asked to be guest Professor at Rutgers University. Locally Gloria assisted CASA PRAC, the Vineland Puerto Rician Society to errect a Statue of JFK in Landis Park. Gloria was a member of Vineland Women's Club, the Library Historical Society, and volunteered for hospice. She enjoyed such hobbies as playing Bridge, painting, Politics, and American History.
