Obituary of Mary M. Nicosia

Mary Margaret (Murphy) Nicosia, 86 of Vineland, passed away July 26, 2010 at South Jersey Regional Medical Center. She was born to the late James and Stella Murphy on January 26, 1924 and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Mary graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1942 and worked as a bank teller in Brooklyn for three years before moving to Vineland in 1945 where she met and married her husband Ralph. She lived in the same house for 65 years. Ralph died in 1990 after 45 years of marriage. Mary had numerous clerical jobs, but her last job, before retiring in 1986, was Principal Clerk Typist at the Vineland Developmental Center for 32 years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary and St. Francis Parish. She loved to be sewing, crocheting, dancing and going to the casinos, but most of all she loved being with her family, that she adored. She will be forever missed. She is survived by one son and wife Ronald and Jacquelyn Nicosia, 3 sisters, Olga Abrams, Bernadette Bogard and Theresa Lenchinsky; 4 grandchildren, granddaughter and husband Tanya and James Bruce, granddaughter and spouse Ina and Bettina Nicosia-Schelker, granddaughter and husband Erin and Paul Vogler, grandson and wife Alexander and Emily Nicosia, and great granddaughters Tara and Shannon Bruce and Isabella Vogler, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral home visitation will be held on Thursday from 8:30 am to 10:30 am with a funeral mass to be held at 11:00 am from Divine Mercy Parish, 23 West Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
