William E. Miller, 90, of Ocean City, and formerly of Vineland, passed away on Friday April 11 at the Bentley Senior Living Center in Pennsauken, NJ. Bill was born & raised in the coal ming town of Crabtree Pa. After his father's death, Bill quit school after the eighth grade to wash dishes in a hotel kitchen, 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, for $20 a month to help his family. He later returned to school to conplete his education. As a young man, he was employed at Woolworth's Department Store in their management traing program. He received an honorable discharge from the US Air Force. First Lieutenant Miller received two Distinguised Flying Crosses & four Air Force medals after serving in the Burma Campaign flying cargo planes. Formerly of Vineland, Bill & his wife Alice spent their winters in Sun City West AZ. & their summers in Ocean City, NJ. After the service, Bill was an Allstate Life Insurance salesman for 33 years. He was one of their top producers in South Jersey. Bill was a distinguished man who led a healthy lifestlye by playing golf and walking the Ocean City boardwalk & beach. He especially enjoyed relaxing with his family. Bill was a generous man who donated to countless charities.
