Obituary of Salvatore "Sal" Marandino

Salvatore Marandino, 83, a life long resident of Landisville, NJ was called home by the Lord, Sunday December 30, 2007 after an extended illness. Sal passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Born July 6, 1924, Sal was the son of the late Virginia (Granozio) and Francesco Marandino. Sal was predeceased in life by his wife of 45 years, Josephine (DeKlerk) Marandino, three brothers and three sisters. Sal served honorably in the 23rd Calvary ( Mechanized) where he drove a tank in Germany, France and Czechoslovakia during World War II under General Patton. This Division was instrumental in the liberation of Czechoslovakia. During his service to his country, Sal was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with 1 Battle Star, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Ribbon and American Theatre Ribbon. Sal was an active member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local 5. He was founder of Sal Marandino, Incorporated where her worked side-by-side with his sons. In addition to this, Sal was active in both the local Emilio Marandino VFW and the American Legion Post # 270. He enjoyed Italian music and dancing, making his homemade wine, holidays with his family, and bus trips to the casinos.
