Obituary of Charles A. Maiatico

Charles Anthony Maiatico,67, of Vineland, died on January 24th at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home where he lived for the past ten years. Born in Vineland, Charles was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Nani) Maiatico, owners of the famed New York Inn Restaurant in Vineland. He was a graduate of Vineland High School, an active member of the high school marching band and a accomplished trumpet player. Charles was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, Connecticut. He went on to have a professional career in hotel and restaurant management and spent many year in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area managing local clubs and restaurants. He eventually went on to own his own restaurant called "The Best Seller" in Ft. Lauderdale. Charles received an honorable discharge from the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam War era in Panama. While living in the NJ Veterans Memorial Home he was honored by being elected to serve as the President of the Resident's council for a term. Charles lived in quiet dignity there surrounded by a dedicated team of VA nurses and hospice staff whom became affectionately known as "Charley's Angels".
