Obituary of Mary Bencie
Mary Anne Bencie, 74, was rewarded with God's promise, Saturday, March 13, 2010 peacefully at home with her loving family by her side.
Born October 14, 1936, to Viola and Henry Cianfrano, she attended St. Mary Magdelan DePazzi grammar school, Camden Catholic High School. She then attended the St. Joseph School of Nursing where she received her R.N. She was a floor nurse with Newcomb Hospital until she became school nurse for both Sacred Heart Regional Grammar School and Sacred Heart High School and remained for 28 years. While working full time as a school nurse and raising her family, Mary Anne attended Glassboro State College and received her B.A. in school nursing in October of 1979.
Mary Anne was committed to serving her church and was a long time member of Sacred Heart Parish in Vineland. She served there as a member of Parish Council, a choir member, lector and extraordinary minister. More recently she was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish of Vineland where she continued here love of parish life by sharing her time and talents as a lector, extraordinary minister, church decorating committee and member of the rectory staff. Mary Anne was also a member of the Women's Club of Vineland.
Mary Anne will be remembered for her love of God, her love of family, love of a good book and her commitment to Catholic education. She was a devout believer in the healing power of St. Padre Pio and the hope it encompassed. She remains an inspiration to all who knew her.
Mary Ann is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Ernest, her daughters Susan and husband Gus Scoma, and Terri and her husband Gino Ciancaglini; her sons Robert and his wife Susan, Nicholas and wife Amy and all of Vineland; her sister Beatrice and husband Richard Gosik of Berlin, NJ; 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Thanks to the nursing staff of South Jersey Hospice, her loving homecare "Angel" staff and the oncology office of Dr. Blom.
A church visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 pm to 6:30 pm Tuesday followed by the funeral liturgy at 7:00 pm from St. Padre Pio Parish - Church Of Our Lady Of Pompeii, 4680 Dante Avenue, and Vineland with a reception to follow at the parish's Rosary Hall. Final disposition will be private.
