A message for Al Lankin's family: My husband, Rich and I were saddened to hear about Al's passing. We graduated VHS in 1957 with Al and recently attended the 50th Class Reunion. I (Uzella) knew Al from before kindergarten and Al's dad and my dad (Bill Reynolds of N 6th St) were good friends. We visited Lankin's grocery store at 7th & Peach St nearly daily. We send our deepest sympathies to both of his sons and their families. Sincerely, Uzella Reynolds Evans and husband Richard. 3712 Bircham Loop, Midlothian, VA 23113

My condolences to Brian and his family at this very difficult time. I went to school with Brian and always went to Al's shoes when it came to any special events. I was actually just there this week to purchase shoes for a family member who passed away so my heart goes out to you. Al always greeted you with a smile and enjoyed helping others. I am truly sorry for your loss and will keep the family in my prayers.

Our deepest sympathy and prayers go out to Al's family. My whole life growing up my mother took me and all of my sisters to Al's shoe store for all of our shoes for school and for communion and confirmation. We all have very fond memories of Al. He was a wonderful man.

I knew Al through shoes, I used to manage the Thom McAn Store in the Cumberland Mall. I also knew him though an employee who worked for me and at Al's Shoe Store (Joe Groves) He was always very kind to me and I had great respect for him. I'm so sorry to see him go and I wish his family all the best in this time of sorrow. Al if you can hear me, please know that we will miss you very much, you were a great family man and a great leader of this community.

Al gave me my first after school job at the shoe store. I moved away, but everytime I visited the avenue I would see Al, he never forgot my name. Love you Al, rest in peace.
