Obituary of Alda V. Lalama

Rone Funeral Service 856-691-4222 Alda (Zaccagnini) Lalama, 94 of Minotola, Buena Borough went home to her Lord on Sunday, July 18 at South Jersey Regional Medical Center in Vineland. She was born in Pistoia, Italy to the late Avino and Anita (Mati) Zaccagnini on February 4, 1916. As a young girl her family moved to Florence. There she became an apprentice to a seamstress. She became an accomplished seamstress herself in a shop in Florence. Throughout her life Alda sewed many of her own clothes and those for her daughter and grandchildren. After her retirement she began doing alterations for family and friends. Alda was the beloved wife of the late Americo "Ali" Lalama. During World War II she met her husband Ali who was a U.S. Army corporal based in Florence. In 1947 she came to the US to marry him. They were married for 59 years. Alda enjoyed sewing, playing bingo and golfing in her younger years. She also loved going to visit her brother and his family and the city where she grew up. She was employed for many years as a hand sewer for South Jersey Clothing Co.; retiring in 1981. Alda was a former member of Buena Vista Country Club, the Parkview Gardens Senior Citizens Club and the Epiphany Social Club. She was a parishioner of Queen of Angels Parish, St. Michael's Church, Minotola. Alda was a very outgoing, friendly person who loved being with family and friends. She is survived by her daughter Laura and her husband Ronald of Margate; her granddaughter Leah Cope and fiancé John Benckert of Margate; her brother and sister-in-law Mario and Rossana Zaccagnini of Florence, Italy; her nephew and godson Maurizio Zaccagnini of Carmingnano, Italy and several nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by her dear friends Nancy Walsh and Teresa Pierotti. Alda was predeceased by her cherished grandson David Cope in 2009;and her devoted husband Ali in 2006. A church visitation will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2010 from 9:30 am to 10:45 am in St. Michael's Church followed by a mass at 11:00 am at St. Michael's Church, 504 West Avenue, Minotola. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Victories Cemetery, 201 W. Delaware Avenue, Landisville.
