Obituary of Giustino Bianco

Giustino "Justin" Bianco passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. His death followed an extended fight with Alzheimer's disease. Justin was born in San Vito Chietino, Italy, on October 4, 1944. He was the youngest of seven children born to Ernesto and Assunta (Di Monte) Bianco. He grew up on his family's farm and later earned a degree in chemical engineering from the Chieti Institute of Technology. Justin moved to the United States on December 1, 1967, starting his career at Wheaton Scientific before joining Vineland Labs, where vaccine development was a focus. In 1984, he began working at Whitehall Laboratories in Hammonton, NJ, and stayed there until he retired in 1999, specializing in solid medications and coatings, contributing to the formulation of well-known drugs like Advil and Theraflu and earning several patents. After retirement, he became a private consultant with Tunnell Consulting in 2000, traveling worldwide, including to Canada, Ireland, and Puerto Rico, where he helped reformulate medications that had been recalled by the FDA, notably Children's Tylenol. He married Patricia Hill, the love of his life, on June 24, 1972, and they raised three children together in Newfield, NJ. Justin had many hobbies including tending to his large garden that produced tomatoes, peppers, pickles, and many other vegetables. Justin had a passion for wine. He proudly tended to his vineyard on his 10 acres of land. It was his pride and joy. His vineyard produced many varieties of grapes which he used to make wine, his favorite being montepulciano, a grape native to his home region of Abruzzo. Justin had a green thumb and could grow anything. This stemmed from his childhood and being on a farm in Italy. He was affectionately known as the "garlic man" as he grew fresh garlic and sold it at his farm. Justin also had several fig trees of different varieties. He was a true outdoorsman and nature lover. Many winters were spent hunting deer. The passion he had for the sport was passed down to his grandsons. Justin spent many hours with them taking them into the woods, helping them get their hunting licenses, and passing down the love of it all to them. Justin also enjoyed fishing and crabbing with his friends and family. Some of his favorite memories were in his pole barn, where he set up a brick oven and crafted pizzas for his family and friends. It is here where he made prosciutto, salami, sausage, capicola, soppressata and culatello with his family and the "Fagari" club, his closest friends. Justin enjoyed cooking and cherished spending time with his family. He took pleasure in entertaining family and having his grandchildren over. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed sharing his food with all. Justin is predeceased by his parents, brothers Gennaro Bianco of Pescara, Italy, Don Donato Bianco of Roccamorice, Italy, and Pietro Bianco of San Vito Chietino, Italy; sisters Rev Mother Iride Bianco of Rome, Italy and Nicoletta Barse of Vineland, New Jersey. He is survived by his wife and caretaker of 52 years Patricia Bianco of Vineland and three children Paul Bianco (Rebecca) of Franklinville, Felicia Fiocchi (Lee) of Vineland, and Justin Bianco (Kara) of Pittsgrove; eight grandchildren Lee Fiocchi IV, Bianca Fiocchi, Olivia Fiocchi, Carlina Fiocchi, Emilia Bianco, Matthew Bianco, Giuliana Bianco, and Isabella Bianco; sister Rev Mother Maria Laura Bianco of San Vito, Italy, and many nieces and nephews both locally and in Italy.
