Obituary of Marcia E Laforest

Marcia Estelle Laforest, 78, of Vineland, NJ, passed away on May 12, 2024. She was born in 1945 to the late Mary (Passeti) and George Possenti and raised by her aunt and uncle, Angela and Auguste Alfaroli after Mary passed away in September 1945. As a young teenager, Marcia enjoyed oil painting. She was a member of the Society of New Jersey Artists. She entered paintings in the annual art show that was held in the "Old Stone School House" in Greenwich. She won many ribbons including first prize. She was also a member of the Cumberland County Historical Society. She was a greeter at the Gibbon House in Greenwich back in the 1970s. She also enjoyed riding horses when she was young. She was a student at Vineland Public School system, graduating with the class of 1963. After graduating from Vineland, she attended Glassboro State College. She graduated with the Class of 1967 with a degree in Elementary Education. She also attended the University of Pennsylvania. She began her teaching career at Franklin Township Public Schools in September of 1967. The first class that she taught was in the classroom that was located above the Franklinville Fire House in Franklinville. Throughout her career, she taught at the Malaga School, Reuter School and Main Road School where she finished her career after 42 years. She retired in 2009. During her life, Marcia traveled numerous times to France. She would travel to the City of Sete that sits on the Mediterranean Sea in order to inspect her family real estate. Sete is the city in France where her family emigrated from to the United States. She took her last trip to France with her boyfriend, Andrew Jones and his daughter, Audrey Martellio. In recent years, Marcia travelled with Andrew and Audrey to France, Great Britain, Quebec, Canada and Newport, RI. Several times, Marcia and Andrew and Audrey attended the Dark Shadows Festival that took place at Lyndhurt Castle in Terrytown, NY. Together they met several actors and actresses that were part of the soap opera series from the 1960s, Dark Shadows. On two different occasions they enjoyed having breakfast with actors, Jim Storm and John Karlen. The last festival was held in 2016, which was the 50th anniversary of the Dark Shadows television show. In 2017, Marcia, Andy and Audrey traveled to Great Britain. They toured England, Wales and Scotland. While in Edinburgh, Scotland, they attended the annual military tattoo that is held at the Edinburg Castle. To their surprise, Prince Charles and Prince William sat a few rows behind them for the duration of the affair. Together, Marcia, Andy and Audrey enjoyed that last fifteen years together, which were wonderful. During her retirement years, Marcia enjoyed reading books, going to concerts with Andy and Audrey, and going to see shows like. "The Russian Ballet'. She will be sadly missed by many who knew and loved her. She leaves behind her fiancé, Andrew Shaw Jones and his daughter, Audrey Martellio; her brothers, Edward Possenti (Adrienne) and John Quinn (Bernice); nieces, Debra Quinn (Joseph Maruca), Colleen Wilson (Scott), Emily Possenti Lawrence (Brett), Kristina Gannotta (Kevin); great niece and nephew, Fry And Ripley and her cousins Chris and Terri Carpa, their children Noah & Victoria. She was predeceased by her husband Claude Laforest A funeral home visitation will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 9am to 11am followed by a funeral service at 11am from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
