Obituary of Joseph Rigor
Joseph "Corky" Savidge Rigor, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 29, 2024.
Joe was born September 15, 1940. In his youth, Joseph lived in Vineland and Greensburg, Pa. He was a graduate of Greensburg High School in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. When he moved back to Vineland in 1963, he met the love of his life, Sylvia Pustizzi, and they married in 1964. They had three daughters, Stephanie, Michele and Joelle.
In his twenties, Joe was employed by Wheaton Industries, where he was a company mailman. He worked at Glassboro Service, a farm-service organization, for over 25 years. He retired from Vineland Public Schools after many years of service.
Joe was an avid sports fan. He loved his Phillies and Eagles, but most of all he loved dirt track racing and Nascar. He enjoyed traveling to various race tracks along the east coast, sometimes with his buddy Jim Dallet, oftentimes with his daughters and later, once she retired, his wife.
He loved watching football games and baseball games with his grandchildren, listening to WIP Sports Radio and talking sports with his family. Joe enjoyed Sundays at his in-laws', playing cards and bocce with his brothers-in-law and eating Lina's homemade dinners.
Joe was a hard worker. He enjoyed spending his weekends in the yard. He took great pride in everything he did, whether it was mowing the grass, raking the leaves or cleaning.
Most of all, Joseph was happiest spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. The memories and love we have for Joseph will forever be in our hearts.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sylvia (Pustizzi) Rigor; daughters Stephanie Berenato of Wenonah, Michele Rigor and husband Greg Bernardini, of Georgia, and Joelle Macrino and husband Vince, of Newfield. Joseph is also survived by grandchildren, Henry, Sam, Luke, and James Berenato, Scott Goranson (Jordan), and Enzo and Eva Macrino; step grandchildren Laura Bernardini and Jill Pfleger (John) and step-great grandson Jack Pfleger; brothers, Bill Mark Sager (Joyce) and Tye Rigor Sager (Colleen); brothers-in-law: Richard Pustizzi (Anna Marie DiMezzo), David Pustizzi (Janis Maccri) and Robert Pustizzi (Jane Zucca); cousins Sallie Martin (Bob) and Lynn Rigor; many nieces and nephews; his caregivers Gabriella and Beverly and his lifelong friend and best man, Michael Panzino who would call them every year on their anniversary for 60 years. He was predeceased by his son, Markwood Rigor; his parents Elizabeth and Mark Rigor, Dorothy and Bill Sager, Dottie and Dick Rigor; mother and father-in-law Lina and Salvatore "Sam" Pustizzi; best friend Jim Dallet, and his furry friends PeeWee and Hershey.
