Obituary of Liselotte "Lilo" Rosenthal

Liselotte Rosenthal, known to everyone as "Lilo", 102, of Bridgewater and formerly of Vineland passed away on April 23, 2024. She was born in Konstanz, Germany She along with her parents and brother escaped from the Nazi regime and arrived in New York City, December 1939. On July 7, 1946 she married the love of her life Hugo Rosenthal. They had a daughter Marion who predeceased both parents. In 1950 the couple had a son Leslie and decided to move from New York to Vineland, NJ and start a chicken farm. After three years of farming they changed careers, Hugo going to work at Joffe Lumber and Lilo becoming a stay at home mom. She was very active in the Vineland PTA. In the 1960's, Lolo decided she wanted to go back to work at Kings' Department Store becoming head cashier. Anyone shopping there regularly knew her. She retired after the store closed in 1982. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, going to the casinos. They would both stay up late playing various card and board games until Hugo passed in 2000. After an illness in 2015 she agreed to move to a retirement facility in Bridgewater, NJ in order to be closer to her son and family. In addition to her husband, Hugo Rosenthal and daughter Marion she was predeceased by her parents, Siegfried & Sofie Rothschild; and her brother, Alfred Rothschild. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Leslie & Glenna Rosenthal and her granddaughter & her husband, Lauren & Nick Picerni as well as a nephew and three nieces and their families A graveside service and burial will be held Friday, April 26, 2024 at 2pm from Alliance Cemetery, 970 Gershal Ave, Norma.
