Pete and Family,
I do not receive any newspapers, so I learned of your father's passing from another person. I am sorry for your loss. I would hae sent this note of sympathy sooner, but my mother is sick. I apologize. I fondly remember your father at your East Avenue house. He was always very nice to talk with and I enjoyed speaking with him. Your father was very intelligant and a live-long giver to the military and other causes. Your father and mother are now enjoying enternal happiness in Heaven. We will keep him in our prayers.
Sincerely,
Michael and Gloria Smith

I just wanted to say that Pete was by far the best Administrator that I had the luck to work for.
I worked for him at The Hembold Education center from 1974-1978 and over those four years I learned so much about working with children of special needs and when I left Hembold I went on to teach special education at Vineland HS for twenty-five years and my success was due to the support and knowledge I received under the guidance of Pete Finley
My prayers go out to all the family.
Pete thank you for all your support. Rest in Peace

I will always remember Dr. Finley when I first met him at the Atlantic County Office of Education and his frequent visits to our office. I also remember him and his work for the Atlantic County Special Services School District and all he did for the special education students of Atlantic County.
May he rest in peace.

Pete,
You were my close friend and mentor. I owe my career as a special applications psychologist to the man who got me started on presidential support duty. You always had the respect of the Commandant, the Colonel, and the Gunny. And you will always have my respect for your example as a husband and father. I miss your Irish humor and wisdom. I will see you again, my friend.

Thank you Andy! He always spoke of you fondly and felt that you had taken the program to another higher level under your leadership. Speaking of you and your time together always bought a huge smile to dads face.
He will still be with you until you do meet again.
Thank you again

Pete always was, and always will be, a legend in my eyes! His compassion for the special needs children in his care was second to none! He took a chance on me, hiring me, when others would not, due to the fact that I had a special needs child of my own in his care. The rest is history! His sage wisdom sustains me to this day. I will never forget you and will always miss you Pete!

Anne and family,
Please accept my condolences on the loss of Pete. Although I only worked for hum for a few years, I enjoyed his passion for the students, school and pride in the Marine Corps. Go in Peace Pete, Semper Fi.

So sorry to hear of the loss of this wonderful man. Pete hired me in 1973 to start Preschool Project APEX, and he was a wonderful boss to work for way back then. His leadership led to a successful program that lead to changing the law regarding the age of educating handicapped children. What a wonderful legacy for him to leave for children everywhere. Rest in Peace.
