Obituary of Eugene L Rossi Sr.

Eugene Louis Rossi Sr., of Vineland died suddenly doing what he enjoyed the most on Sunday January 21 2024. Gene was born on June 24th 1937 to Eugene Victor and Mary B. Rossi. Upon graduating high school in 1955 he entered the US Navy and trained as an electrician. Upon his honorable discharge in 1958 he married the love of his life Gloria. In the 65 years they were together they built a family and friendships that lasted a lifetime. In 1973, he graduated from Stockton State College with a degree in accounting. During his lifetime he worked (owned) at Rossi's Bakery, Kimble Glass and Prudential Insurance where he retired. Every tax season he would prepare income taxes for a very large group of dedicated customers. Eugene loved entertaining his family and friends, fishing, golfing, traveling, playing cards, putting more mileage on his lawnmower than his car and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a devout member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and Divine Mercy Parish serving as an Usher for many years. Gene is survived by his wife Gloria; his children Eugene Jr (Roberta), Deborah Santoro (Paul) and Linda Rossi (Louise). Additionally, he is survived by 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Rossi, Caroline Giblin (Paul), Shaun Madigan, and Danielle Dixon (Wayne); 5 great-grandchildren Emily, Eva, Erin, Gavin and Connor; his sister Jean Marie Herman-Rossi; brother-in-law Frank Grotti (Liz); sister-in-law Vicky Baxter; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Geraldine, and brother-in-law Robert Gardella Sr. A church visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 9am to 11am followed by a funeral mass at 11:30 am from Divine Mercy Parish, 23 West Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
