Obituary of Marie Barry

Marie A. (D'Ippolito) Barry, 97, of Vineland and Ocean City, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born in Vineland NJ to the late Solve and Alvera (Maretti) D'Ippolito. Marie graduated from Sacred Heart High School and worked in the family business, Dip Fuels, while attending Pearson School of Business until she married her beloved husband, Gerald J. Barry, who predeceased her, and started her own family. Once married, Marie focused on caring for her aging parents and her five children. An accomplished hostess and cook, Marie delighted in entertaining friends and family, and could often be seen in the kitchen preparing an amazing meal, usually Italian fare. To meet Marie was to experience a fashionably dressed, impeccably coiffed force of nature, brimming with spunk, sass and quick wit. She always spoke her mind and that mind was overflowing with family history, cherished recipes and directions to just about anywhere in South Jersey. When she wasn't cooking Marie enjoyed playing bridge, pinochle, "initials," 4pm happy hours on the patio and trips to the casinos in Atlantic City, where she always won. Marie's Catholic faith was precious to her and in her later years always began her day by watching Mass on television. Marie is survived by her 5 children, Gerald Barry (Debbie Nash), Maureen Sirois (Roland), Laura Barry, Barbara Westreich (Barry) and Stephen Barry, (Maureen Lowry); 15 grand children Jerry Barry (Renee), Brittany Barry, William Sirois (Alicia), Thomas Brink, Gregory Domico (Dinah), Janna Sakla (Joey), Eric Brink, Kelly Barry, Francis Sirois, Brett Barry, Matthew Sirois, Andrew Barry, Jacob Westreich, Christina Barry, and Jessica Westreich; 4 great grand children Olivia Domico, Luca Domico, Mia Sakla and Liam Sirois. She is also survived by other extended family. Family and friends are invited to a church visitation at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday December 23, at St. Augustine's Church, 13th and Wesley Avenue, Ocean City, NJ, followed by a memorial mass of Christian Burial at 10:30. Final disposition will be private. Due to the Christmas season the church is not allowing flowers.
