Obituary of Albert Jonus

Albert M. (Jonushaitis) Jonus of Vineland NJ passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012, at the age of 81. Mr. Jonus retired in 1986 as Executive Vice President of Faberge International, in New York City. Prior to joining Faberge, Albert was Executive Vice President of Wheaton Industries in Millville, NJ. The son of Lithuanian immigrant parents, Albert grew up on his father's farm in La Porte, Indiana. An avid sports enthusiast as a young man and throughout his life, he went on to pitch in the Chicago Cubs farm system. After graduating from Valparaiso University, he completed his service with the US Army at Fort Knox, Kentucky. His decision to pursue interests in finance led to senior positions in Chicago and New York with Fortune 500 firms including Union Carbide, and International Paper, who sponsored his participation in the Harvard University International Senior Managers program in Vevey, Switzerland in 1975. Through Mr. Jonus involvement in international business, he and his beloved wife Darlene "Dee" were able to travel extensively in Asia and Europe including a number of trips to their favorite destinations, London, Paris and Rome. He is survived by his brother Richard Jonushaitis, La Porte, Indiana; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Beth Jonus of Closter, NJ and David and Peggy Jonus of Leesburg, NJ; three grandchildren, Mark and Sara Jonus and Rhonda Butcher, Millville, NJ; three great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jodi and Karly Butcher, Millville, NJ; and one great great-grandchild, Zachary Butcher-Hartman, Millville, NJ. Albert is predeceased by his parents, Mike and Anna Jonushaitis, brothers Otto, Alvin, Ewald Jonushaitis, and sisters Violet (Jonushaitis) Henricks and Emma (Jonushaitis) Juan. A funeral home visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. March 24, followed by a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E. Chestnut Ave., Vineland, NJ Final disposition will be at the convenience of the family. Donations in memory of Albert can be made to hospice.
