Obituary of Joyce C Lowenstern

Joyce Lowenstern passed away on November 23, 2023 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland. Our mother was born in Philadelphia in 1930, the daughter of Russian and German immigrants who lived in Germantown overtop of the Jewish deli that her late parents Myer and Rose Gruber owned. She was a late arrival, so her closest sister was 15 years her elder. She had two sisters, Mildred and Eva and a brother Sammy. It was like having three additional parents because she was spoiled by them all. Family was very important to her. We remember as children going to visit our aunt Mildred who lived with our grandmother every Sunday for dinner. Mom worked as a substitute teacher and then a paralegal for the next 15 years for Mike Capizola in Vineland. She married Leon Lowenstern in 1978 and was married until his death in 1986. We always had every holiday dinner at our house. She loved to have family around her during the holidays. Joyce is survived by her sons, Leonard Grossman of Dividing Creek NJ and Marc & Karen Ricci Grossman of Springfield Pa; her grandsons Thomas Grossman and wife Kimberly, Matthew Grossman and Jared Grossman; and her great-grandchildren, Paige Grossman and Howard Grossman. As well as her stepson, David Lowenstern of Vineland. A graveside service and burial will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 2pm from Alliance Cemetery, 970 Gershal Ave, Norma.
