Obituary of Joseph I Sparacio

Joseph I. "Sonny" Sparacio, 82 of Milmay, NJ passed away peacefully Saturday, August 12, 2023 with his wife Kathleen by his side. Joe was born and raised in Vineland and was a graduate of Vineland High School in 1959. After he graduated, he earned his BA in Elementary Education from Glassboro Teacher's College and taught in the Vineland School District for 29 years. Joe loved teaching and continued to substitute teach and tutor for many years after he retired. He also worked as a home instructor for the Millville Board of Education. Joe was a kind and generous man and did everything to make a difference in peoples lives. Joe volunteered at Big Brothers of America and served on their Board of Directors. Joe was not only a passionate advocate for children, but also loved nature and animals. He especially loved his dogs. Joe was a strong believer of animal rights, and served as a Cruelty Agent at the South jersey Regional Animal Shelter, where he would occasionally rescue needy animals. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Kathy (Strauss) Sparacio; his sister & brother-in-law, Angela and Charles Kantoci; four nieces, Theresa Zotow (Alex), Christine Wilson (Monique Umness), Dawn Marino and Catherine Wilson (Hector Papaleo); a special cousin, Anthony Sparacio; special nephew, Roman Papaleo; his best friend, Marci; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Samuel And Angelina (LoBiondo) Sparacio; in-laws, William and Rose Strauss; and his sisters-in-law, Priscilla Strauss And Rosemarie Wilson. A Funeral home visitation will be held on Saturday, August 19th from 10am to 11am followed by a memorial service at 11am from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland.
