Obituary of Vincenzo "Vince" Berti

Vincenzo "Vince" Berti, 77, of Vineland, NJ, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Cooper Hospital, surrounded by family. Vince was born in Ostra, Italy in 1945 to the late Nicola and Maria (Sagrati) Berti. He came to America with his family in 1958 and was raised in Vineland with his two sisters. Vince attended Vineland Public Schools and graduated from Vineland High School in 1965. Shortly after graduating, he married the love of his life Judy and recently celebrated 56 years of marriage. Vince was employed by the Vineland Times Journal, now Daily Journal, for over 40 years as a Press Operator/Supervisor. In 1998, Vince and his son Vinnie opened "Vinnie's Italian Deli" in Minotola, NJ, which was his lifelong dream. While working at the deli, he continued to work in printing including the Bridgeton Evening News in Bridgeton, NJ and Evergreen Printing in Bellmawr, NJ, prior to retiring from the industry in 2005. When the deli was sold in 2013, Vince then spent most of his time in his yard and garden. Vince loved life and lived it to the fullest. Despite his medical history, there was nothing that held him back. He was nothing short of amazing in how he approached life and all that he accomplished. Vince was an incredibly determined and highly innovative man, who often created his own "contraptions" to get the job done. From gardening and canning to his mechanical skills, Vince was a master of many talents. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time in his yard, cooking for others, playing cards with family and friends, watching Philadelphia sports teams, and having an occasional scotch. Vince was an avid fan of the St. Augustine Prep community and attended many athletic events to show his love and support. However, his greatest joy and biggest pride in life was his family. Vince is survived by his loving wife, Judy (Coia) Berti; daughter Gina Merlino (Chris); son Vinnie Berti (Suzanne Pulman); grandchildren, Nicolette Merlino, Olivia Pulman, Ayden Pulman, Aaron Pulman; sister, Pina (Bill) Dyer; sister-in-law/brother-in-law, Jeanie (Coia) and Gene Volpe; several nieces and nephews; granddogs, Vito, Luca, Laila; and many additional family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Nicola and Maria (Sagrati) Berti; sister Adelina (Berti) Campisi; grandparents, Giovanni and Rosa (Fava) Sagrati; and his in-laws, Nicholas and Virginia (Sanguinetti) Coia A church visitation will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023 from 8:45am to 10:45am followed by A funeral mass at 11am from Villa Rossello Chapel, 1009 Main Road, Newfield officiated by Father Paul Galetto of the Order of St Augustine.
