Obituary of John Disanti

John A. Disanti was a deeply loved husband, father, poppop, brother, uncle, and friend during his 81 years of life. He passed away peacefully after a hard fight with cancer on the morning of Wednesday, June 14, 2023. He was with loved ones when his soul returned to God. John was born in Bridgeton on September 7th, 1941, to the late Dominic and Rose (Giammona) Disanti. He grew up in Vineland, New Jersey where he lived for most of his life. He graduated from Vineland High School in 1960. He was Vineland's first wrestling state champion in 1959 and was later inducted into the South Jersey Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1985. This is an accomplishment he carried with him into his final days. He then went on to join the Air Force from 1961 until 1964. While serving, he met his wife Carol (Streeter) Disanti while stationed in Kansas. They were married for 57 years and had three daughters. John worked at Shoprite for many years before opening his own business alongside his wife called Buddy's Bagels. From there, John went on to be a security guard at Vineland High School. He retired to Florida where he made many friends and played endless rounds of golf. He was involved in the Corvette Club and a previous member of the Diamond Social Club. John loved his corvettes, his family, golfing, playing cards and warm weather. You could easily find him cooking in the kitchen with a wine glass in hand, enjoying happy hour with his friends, or relaxing in a recliner watching the Eagles or the Phillies. His favorite songs were Hotel California by The Eagles and Unforgettable by Nat King Cole. He was notorious for having a well-kept yard and was very proud of this. John's willingness to do anything for those he loved shined through in his later years as he became the caretaker of his wife. He loved Carol endlessly. John is survived by his wife, Carol (Streeter) Disanti; his loving children Lisa Cole (Scott), Christine Winiecki (Ray), and Paula Disanti; cherished siblings Dennis Disanti and Dominie (Ed) Dondero; in-laws Edna Corn, Inga Streeter, and Linda Streeter; his grandchildren Michael Ostrowski (Danielle), Kelsey Patrick, Madelyn Robertson, Brett Cole, and Robert Bryson; many nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. The loved ones of John A. Disanti request that all donations be made to New Jersey Hospice in Vineland, New Jersey or The American Bladder Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. A church visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 10:30am to 12:30pm followed by a funeral mass at 12:30pm from Christ The Good Shepherd Parish- Church of St Isidore The Farmer, 1655 Magnolia Road, Vineland. Final disposition will be at the convenience of the family.
