Obituary of James J. Gruccio

James J Gruccio, 76, of Vineland passed away peacefully on May 5, 2023, following a lengthy illness. Jimmy as affectionately known was born to James J. and Jane (Fleming) Gruccio on March 17, 1947. He attended Sacred Heart School, graduating Sacred Heart High School in 1965. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from LaSalle University. Throughout his working career Jimmy was a bartender where he met many great friends. Jimmy had many interests attaining expertise in most; his knowledge of history went from Biblical, American Civil War, to modern day politics. He especially liked ancient Egyptian history. The highlight of a trip to England was visiting the British Museum twice! Frequent and favorite vacations included trips to Vermont, Rhode Island, Maine and Virginia. When younger, fishing, bridge, photography, golf and trivia were favorite pastimes. Jimmy was known to win Trivial Pursuits games against the entire neighborhood. He also enjoyed music, reading, movies, and British TV. His true passions were canoeing and kayaking. He paddled many rivers in Vermont and New Jersey with Paula, his favorite river was always the Maurice River. Jimmy and Paula (Giglio) married in 1986, sharing much love and many adventures over the years including a Canoe Vermont trip during their honeymoon. He is survived by his wife Paula; sister Mary Jane Fiocchi; sister-in-law Lynne Giglio (Carl); brother-in-law David Giglio (Michele); niece Cindy Dalponte (Denny); nephew Ricky Fiocchi Jr. (Stephanie); great-nieces and nephews Ricky III, Sam and Anthony Fiocchi, and Kate and Vinnie Dalponte; special cousin Jim Gruccio (Mina) and many other loved cousins. Jim was greatly loved by many pets over the years. He will be sadly missed by his loving dog and cats. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, James and Jane Gruccio; father and mother-in-law, Salvatore Edward and Catherine Giglio; brother-in-law Rick Fiocchi Sr and many dear cousins. A funeral home visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 11am to 1pm followed by a funeral service at 1pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360.
