Obituary of Raymond D Vassallo

Raymond D. Vassallo Sr, also known as Harpo passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends after fighting many long-term illnesses at Jefferson Health Stratford Hospital on Sunday, March 26, 2023. Born to the late Dominick and Angelina (Pontarelli) Vassallo on September 20, 1939, he was a resident of Landisville most of his life. He was a veteran of the US Army and National Guard as a heavy vehicle driver and an expert rifleman. He proudly retired after 37 years with United Parcel Service in 2000. He was a member of the Landisville Social Club, Diamond Social Club and the American Legion. Raymond is survived by his wife of 56 years Judith (Mortelliti); son Raymond Jr; daughter and son-in-law Tricia and Darren Dortu; his two grandchildren Matthew and Avery Dortu who were the light and joy of his life. Also, very special to him were Scott, Chad and Olivia Dortu; sister Eleanor Piedmont; brother George (June) Vassallo; brothers-in-law Michael (Carol) Mortellite, Anthony Mortellite and Richard Gilliam; sister-in-law Angelina (Jack) Anastasia and Carol (Louis) Valenti and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Dominck (Gloria), Nicholas (Rose) and Carmen; sister Minnie Gilliam; in-laws Anna and Tony Mortellite; brother-in-law Joseph Piedmont; and sister-in-law Roseanne Mortellite. A church visitation will be held on Saturday, April 1 from 8:45am to 10:45am followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am from Our Lady Of The Blessed Sacrament - Church Of Our Lady Of Victories, 202 Northwest Boulevard, Landisville. Interment will follow in Our Lady Of Victories Cemetery, Landisville.
