Obituary of Luba Sorokin

On February 4, 2023, after a brief illness, Luba Sorokin passed into the arms of the love of her life John Rizzo. She asked that anyone who knew her should be happy because she is where she belongs with John again, forever. Luba and her family came to America after leaving war torn Europe for a better life, and they proceeded to make the best of it through hard work and dedication to each other. "Aunt Luba" was kindhearted and generous and beloved by everyone who met her. She had a captivating smile and laugh that comforted, without agenda, whomever was in her presence. Luba also loved her animals, great and small, whether they were a fixture in her house, buzzing from bird feeder to bird bath or just passing through for a quick bite and a friendly smile. She also so enjoyed her flower gardens and attending flower shows with her sisters and her nieces, just having the best of times with her family and in her element. She also could have set world records finishing a jigsaw puzzle... that is a fact. Aunt Luba enjoyed the countless gatherings and dinners over the years with her extended family which eventually led to a nice glass of wine, the playing of classic rock, uncontrollable laughter and proof that you can love your relatives even though you didn't pick them. Her sails were eventually filled again thanks to her twin nieces, Gabrielle and Olivia, who held court daily with Aunt Luba; either having her judge somersault or water balloon competitions, proctoring jewelry making exhibits or just having a summer treat with the girls and Ivan the Beagle while watching fire flies. Luba will be deeply missed by all, including her nieces, Elizabeth Crist (Dave), and Natalie Achinko (Andrew Mill); her nephews, Alex Udalovas (his daughters Allison and Alexis); the wife and children of the late Serge Udalovas (wife Betteann, and her children Ashleigh and Serge-Michael), Nick Kandabarow (his children, Nicholas and Adriana) and Gregory S. Achinko (his wife Noelle and their daughters Gabrielle and Olivia). A funeral home visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 10am to 11am followed by a funeral service at 11am from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland. At the families request donations in memory of Luba may be made to: South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter, 1244 N.
