Obituary of Timothy C Zatzariny

Timothy C. Zatzariny Sr., 84, a lifelong Vineland resident and a career Vineland police officer, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Tim, or "Zatz" as he was known, was a member of the undefeated 1955 championship Vineland High School football team. Upon graduation in 1957, he and his identical twin brother, Edgar, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where they were stationed in Japan. Tim was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1965 as a staff sergeant. He joined the Vineland police force in October 1965, spending most of his career in the detective bureau. While on the force, Tim obtained his associate's degree from Cumberland County College (now Rowan College South Jersey) and his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University.) Tim retired from the police force in February 2002 as a lieutenant. One of Tim's proudest accomplishments was serving and protecting the residents of Vineland. In retirement, he worked part-time as a security officer for the Vineland Board of Education and Vineland Municipal Court. He also worked for several years as a funeral assistant for Rone Funeral Service. Tim enjoyed taking day trips with his grandsons, and rooting for the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles. He is survived by his wife, Judith Ann; his son, Tim Jr. (Michelle); grandsons, Ryan and Shane; twin brother, Edgar (Josephine), and his sister, Violet Harris; He was predeceased by his son, Scott and his sister Tanya.
