Obituary of Herta Reissek

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Herta (Diensthul) Reissek, 92, of Vineland, NJ. She passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023. Her passing highlights a legacy of love. She was an amazing woman, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Above all her greatest title in life was being, "Omi" to all her grandchildren. She will be our forever angel. Herta was born in Germany on May 10, 1930 to the late Ernst & Maria Diensthul. It was in Germany where she married the love of her life Boris Reissek Sr. Herta left her family behind and moved with her husband to the United States in 1954 to pursue the American dream. They had two Children. Herta was employed as a shift supervisor at the Vineland Developmental Center in Vineland. She retired after 29 years of dedicated service. She loved traveling, visiting family in Germany, taking bus trips to the casinos and frequented the bingo circuit. More than anything, she loved being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her infamous potato salad was the highlight of many family gatherings. Herta is survived by her daughter Ann Connolly and husband Edward; her son Boris Reissek Jr and wife Diane; grandchildren Leslie) Garton (Butch), Eric Reissek (Leahann); great –grandchildren, Victoria, Henry, Gabriel), Kylee, Gavin, Owen. She is also survived by her step-grandson, Ed Connolly Jr.; great- grandson T.J. Santos; great-great-grandsons, Thomas and Josh; older sister Elsa Funk, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews in Germany. Herta was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Boris Reissek Sr.; grandson Jeffery Bell and great-grandson Jeffery Bell Jr; her parents; mother-in-law, (Aspasia Reissek); sister-in-law, Elizabeth Capozzi; two brothers, Ernst & Franz and two sisters Mimie & Freida. A funeral home visitation will be held on Thursday January 12th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am followed by a funeral at 10:30 am from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
