Obituary of Frederick N. Angelo

Frederick N. Angelo, 93, of Vineland passed away peacefully at his home on September 17, 2022. Born on March 10, 1929, Fred was a lifelong resident of Vineland. He attended Vineland Public Schools, graduating in 1947. He went on to attend Rider College in Lawrenceville, NJ. Fred then enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in the Korean Conflict. After the war, he started a lifelong career in banking beginning at the Vineland National Bank, Vineland NJ. Fred was predeceased by the love of his life, Joyce Cobianchi, whom he married in May of 1953. Together, they have four sons: Frederick, Jr. "Rick" (Sue), Alan (Cindy), Vincent (Terry Sutton), and Joseph (Terry). He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Melissa, Nicole, Alison, Joseph, Samantha, Victoria, Gina, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brother, Ronald "Henry" (Tina), and sister, Camille Gariano (Gary). In 1953, Fred moved on to the Vineland Savings and Loan Association, which became Security Savings Bank. He finished his banking career serving as Vice President of Business Development at Minotola National Bank. During his entire adult life, Fred has tirelessly and unselfishly served his community. Among his accomplishments were, Council Chairman for the State of New Jersey; Multiple District 16 of Lions International; Chairman of the Vineland Industrial Commission; Director of the Vineland UEZ Board; Member of the Vineland UEZ Second Generation Loan Fund; Vice President and Chairman of the Finance Committee for Cumberland County Homemakers Home Health Aide Services; Director of Vineland Jersey Fresh Festival and the Vineland Lions Club; President of the Greater Vineland Chamber of Commerce, the Vineland/Bridgeton Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Sacred Heart Athletic Association. Fred served as past chairman of the United Way campaign and was a lector, member of the Parish Council and Finance Committee, as well as a Eucharistic Minister at Christ the Good Sheppard Parish. In addition to all his merits, Fred was also the recipient of the following awards and acknowledgements, The Melvin Jones Fellowship Award from the Lions Club International; 1990 Citizen of the Year; 1994 Italian-American Club Award Winner and the 2001 Gregor Mendel Award. Fred also held offices in the following organizations, Industrial Commission (Chairman); Crime Stoppers (Past Director); Keep Vineland Beautiful Committee; The Serra Club; The American Cancer Society Campaign; The American Heart Association; The Italian American Quincentennial Committee; March of Dimes Walk America; Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; Friends of Bishop McCarthy Nursing Home (Director); Boy Scouts of America and The Newcomb Foundation. His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his loving caregiver, Elizabeth Roedell. Fred lived a full and beautiful life dedicated to serving his God, his family, and his community. A church visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 11am to 1pm followed by a funeral mass at 1:15pm at Christ The Good Shepherd Parish - Church of Sacred Heart, 1010 East Landis Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
