Obituary of Medio Bassetti Sr

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Medio Bassetti Sr., 85, of Vineland, NJ share that Medio passed away on August 26, 2022, after his health began to fail three months ago. Medio was born in Vineland on September 10th and remained a lifelong city resident. He is the son of the late Joseph & Mary (Trovarelli) Bassetti. Medio began working at a young age and he enjoyed telling the stories of how he drove trucks to Detroit delivering produce when he was barely 17. He worked as a produce buyer for Food Fair and Consalo & Sons until he started his own business and became a self-employed produce broker. Medio enjoyed watching sports, thoroughbred horse racing and a good root beer float made with Stewart's root beer. Most of all, Medio loved his family, and they loved him; "The Best things in life are the people we love, the places we've been and the memories we've made along the way" - Anonymous Medio is survived by his three children; Brian (Marguerite), Medio, Jr. (Jane), Darlene (Kenny) and the mother of his children Caroline Hooven; his six grandchildren, Jason Briggs (Michelle), Ryan Briggs (Erin), Melanie Anderson (Kevin), Rachel Harrington (Rob), Timothy Bassetti, Medio Bassetti III who will always remember his ability to make them laugh with his keen sense of humor and the fun times they spent with him at his home; step grandchildren; Kenneth (Allison), Rosalia (Ish); ten great-grandchildren, Kayla (Matthew), Sarah, Jacob, Mason, Emma, Noah, Katie, Julia, Gabriella, Zechariah; one great-great granddaughter Olivia; and his three sisters, Josephine Bocchetti, Sue Forcinito, and Tillie Propheita; as well as the extended Bassetti and Trovarelli families. Medio was predeceased by his wife; Delores Bassetti; five brothers and their wives Joseph (Beatrice), James (Tootsie), John (Nellie), Anthony (Betty), Frank (Angie); three sisters and their husbands Sarah DiMatteo (Bill), Julia Salera, Gloria Vassallo (Dom); and his brothers in law; Joseph "Bucky" Bocchetti, Michael Forcinito, and John Propheita. Memorial contributions in Medio's memory may be made to Bishop McCarthy Residence, 1045 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360 where he resided the past three months being cared for by the most loving and compassionate staff. A church visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 12pm to 1pm followed by a funeral mass at 1pm from Christ The Good Shepherd Parish - Church Of Saint Isidore The Farmer, 1655 Magnolia Road, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
