Obituary of Gary D. Cheli

Gary D. Cheli, 76, of Vineland passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Gary was born and raised in Vineland where he remained a lifelong resident. He was the son of the late John and Emma (Giuliani) Cheli. He was predeceased by his sister Joan (Cheli) and William Martini. He was also predeceased by his loving friend, Shirley Stiles. Gary attended Valley Forge Military Jr. College and continued his on to receive his bachelor's degree from West Virginia University. Gary spent his career working in the car industry for various local dealerships. He served as a salesperson, a manager and ultimately a sole proprietor of his own dealership. Gary enjoyed many activities such as baseball, golf and bowling. He enjoyed watching the races and was a regular at the old Atlantic City Racetrack. He also enjoyed playing cards and going to the casinos with friends. He was a long time member of the Diamond Social Club. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. Ultimately, he cherished time with his children and grandchildren above all. Pop-pop created may memories on the Ocean City boardwalk eating Prep's pizza, ice-cream and playing min golf. He loved taking them to the movies, zoo, and attending all school and sport activities. If they asked, he said yes. He is survived by his children, Denise (Cheli) and Michael Webb, Christina (Cheli) and David Pierce, Jacque and Charles Riley, and Joe and Aubry Morello and his ten grandchildren; Alise and Makai Webb, Emma, Matthew and Jonathan Pierce, Chase Riley, Sydney, Madison, Joey and Erin Morello. He is also survived by his best friend since childhood, James Catalano. As well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. A funeral home visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 3pm to 5pm followed by a funeral service at 5pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will be private in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
