Obituary of Louis Polizzi

Louis J. Polizzi, 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, departed this life peacefully on Friday, August 12th surrounded by his family. Lou lived his entire life in Vineland. After graduating Vineland High School he was employed by S. Del Rossi as an electrician helper and enlisted in the armed forces on March 14, 1951. Upon discharge from the Navy in 1955 he was employed by the IBEW as an electrician. After his retirement from the electrical union he enjoyed a new career path as a City of Vineland bus driver.
In June of 1962 he married the love of his life Gloria Tonetta. They enjoyed many years of traveling with family and friends and most of all dancing, especially the jitterbug to the big band sound and Frank Sinatra. Lou enjoyed baseball in his younger years, bowling and horseshoes later in life. He was a member of the knights of Columbus and North Italy Beneficial Association.
Lou is survived by his wife Gloria (Tonetta); daughters Sandra Tonetta-Lovecchio (Paul), Paula Smaniotto (Dave), and Louann Davidson; grandchildren, Karen Lovecchio-Clark (Del), Jennifer Lovecchio-Cugini (Ed), Shana Davidson-Conboy (Joe), Amanda Smaniotto, and Joshua Davidson; his great-grandchildren, Mia, Gabriel, Abigail Clark, Angelina and Victoria Cugini; brother Phil (Mary); sister-in-laws Mary Holmes, Myra Geri, and Marie Tonetta; brother-in-law Vincent Tonetta, and many cherished nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Nicholas Polizzi and Georgina Polizzi; mother and father-in-law Alex and Amelia Tonetta; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Ike Schrieber; son-in-law Reuel Davidson; brothers-in-law, Joe, John, Alex Tonetta, Jack Holmes, and Dave Geri; and his sisters-in-law, Rita Castellini, Lucy, Rosie, Olive, and Cathy Tonetta.
A special thank you to the staff of the New Jersey Veterans Home at Vineland where Lou and Gloria have been residence since 2015 especially the care given in Justice Court.
A church visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 from 10:30am to 12:15pm followed by a funeral mass at 12:30 pm from Saint Padre Pio Parish - Church Of Our Lady Of Pompeii, 4680 Dante Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
