It saddens me to find out after the fact that Michael passed away. My name is Judy Panetta and I taught with Mike up until 2015, at which time I retired. I, too, was a special education teacher. Mike was a kind, gentle man. He had a beautiful smile and always spoke to you in a respectful manner and listeded to what you had to say. He was professional and truly cared about his students. I am sorry that I did not know he was ill and of his passing. I will keep Mike and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I met and knew Mike briefly while I was completing my student teaching at EHT High School. He was always a breath of fresh air during a very stressful time, offering tips, tricks, and a joke. In the following years, he and I saw each other around town, most often on Fridays at Chickie's and Pete's after a long school week. I am so shocked and saddened by the news. Thank you for being a wonderful mentor and most of all, a friendly face.

Bob and I were dating when bob introduced me to his best friend Mike Novak, we went to an Italian restaurant and there was a man dining with his family and singing opera out loud I looked at Bob and Mike and asked if that was normal here in the US, that a man would break out singing in the middle of a restaurant … Mike smiled and joined the guy (ha ha ha) and even so he told the man he was doing a good job. I thought that was very nice of him and I realized that singing out loud in the middle of a restaurant might not have been that normal in this country but encouraging people and being kind to others was. Mike, please kiss our Lord for us, until we meet again. We’ll be singing in heaven together.
