Obituary
Obituary of Rosalie Ann Pennino
Rosalie A. (Solazzo) Pennino passed away on July 8, 2022, at the age of 78, following an extended illness. A Vineland resident her whole life, she attended Vineland High School, class of 1962. She married her beloved James A. Pennino in 1967 and together they had three children who cherished her. Rosie retired from Kmart where she worked for many years.
Rosie loved going to the casino, Elvis Presley, and above all, her family. She was always ready to help her family with advice and support. This unwavering support was a mainstay in her relationship with her son, Michael, for whom she would do anything.
Her grandchildren and great-grand children were a huge source of pride for her. She loved them very much and enjoyed spending time with them. She loved to shop and enjoyed Wednesday night shopping club with her daughter, granddaughter, and niece, Gina, who was much more than just a niece. She was a partner in crime, and held a special place in her heart. Rosie absolutely adored going to concerts with her granddaughter especially to see "her boys" the Imagination Movers. She loved singing and dancing with her "Mover" family. She enjoyed the Ocean City Boardwalk, and all the treats she would get as we'd walk from one end to the other.
Later in life, Rosie lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Geno. Their relationship was a special one, and she loved him like her own son. She brought love and laughter, and enhanced their home. In that time she developed a unique relationship with her granddaughter Sofia. She was able to be an integral part in Sofia's childhood and they made very special memories together. They were "besties," and Rosie had a huge influence on Sofia's independent spirit.
In Rosie's final days she was lovingly cared for in her home by her daughter, Donna. Allowing her to be surrounded by her most cherished family mementos and her loved ones until the end, which was so important to her.
Rosie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She treasured her children, and endured the untimely demise of two of them, along with her husband, with dignity and grace. Her strength and resolve were honorable. Her loss is a great one, leaving a hole in our hearts.
Rosie is survived by her daughter Donna Amato (Geno); grandchildren Sofia Amato, Julianna Cooke (Nicholas), Brianna, Jamie, and Bailey Pennino; Great-grandchildren Colin and Lucille Cooke; Niece Gina Allewelt (Thom), great-niece Heather Allewelt (Dave Shook); brother Vince Solazzo (Linda), and sister-in-law Corbina (Pennino) DuBois; her loyal companion Hershey who loved her as much as her leftovers, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Rosie was predeceased by her parents Georgeanna (Loretta) and Carmen Solazzo; her sons James Anthony "JJ" Pennino, Jr. , Michael Vincent Pennino; her dear husband James Anthony "Champ" Pennino, Sr.
At Rosalie's request there will not be a service.
